Moving to Palm Desert?

The city of Palm Desert, California is located a few miles from Palm Springs, in the Coachella Valley. The city has been recorded as one of the fastest growing in the state. It is a popular place for snowbirds who flock to Palm Desert California at wintertime, boosting population by over 30,000 yearly.

There have been many major changes and developments to the city in the past 50 years, beginning with golf clubs which put it on the map. In fact, it is known as the World’s Golf Capital, boasting over 30 golf clubs. From the 70s and 80s, upscale resorts, hotels and private golf clubs were built, drawing many tourists. Today, there are more than 5000 motel rooms ready to accommodate visitors.

With population and tourism on the rise, huge shopping developments were constructed in the 80s and 90s, turning the City of Palm Desert Ca into a shopping destination. The opening of Target in 1995 proved it to be a major shopping area. From there, the city’s downtown core became a high-end shopping district filled with art galleries, upscale boutiques and fine restaurants, all aligning the main road, El Paseo Drive, which is often reminiscent of the famous Rodeo Drive.

A main road has been converted into a 4 lane highway which has encouraged new shopping and commercial developments. Retailers and golf courses are the top employers in the city but there are other employment and business opportunities that exist. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is another valuable improvement to the area, which also includes an incredible animal hospital. College of the Desert, was opened in 1961 and shares the site with the zoo. Since the opening, the state added an extension campus. Additionally, several educational facilities have been built to accommodate the numerous students from Grade 1 through Grade 12. Moreover, there are 7 prominent private schools in the region, including Catholic and Jewish schools.

Coachella Valley is considered the agricultural and recreational valley of Southern California and is home to approximately 600,000 people and is estimated to double by 2066. Currently, there are over 200 golf courses in the area as well as several Las Vegas-style classy casinos. There are numerous hotels and spas, making the valley a great destination for tourists.

Rich with history, conversation efforts and strategic developments, the City of Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley make it a great place to raise families, retire or vacation in. Palm Springs is located in the valley and has become a miniature Hollywood as well as many other things. Many improvements have been made there, like the building of the convention center in 1974, which has since then been expanded to accommodate up to 12,000 people and an attached hotel that is perfect for conventions.
